Liaison Officers

Sonder Liaison Officers are local, trusted points of contact on the ground, ready to respond to events where in-person assistance is required. Our skilled team is made up of ex and off-duty emergency services personnel, all coordinated via our local command centres.All our Liaison Officers are trained and independently-vetted, offering years of experience in their field and an overarching desire to help others.

Support Center

Anyone can find themselves in a confronting or complex situation. And when these challenging circumstances arise, we make better decisions with people by our side. Our 24-7, multilingual support centre is staffed with local experts with local knowledge.Calm in chaos, our team instantly and expertly assesses any situation and level of risk before helping you to take the best action to protect your rights, welfare and safety.

Leadership Team

Craig Cowdrey

Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer

Prior to Sonder, Craig worked as a corporate lawyer with Clayton Utz, before joining the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. While with DFAT, Craig worked on Australia’s successful campaign for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council and completed a long-term posting to Hong Kong as Australia’s Consul for Economic Affairs. He also served ten years as an officer in the Army Reserve, which included a peacekeeping deployment to the Solomon Islands. Craig holds a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Arts from UWA. Craig co-founded Sonder with a vision to make the world a safer place by rapidly connecting people who need help with those who can help.

Christopher Marr, DSM

Co-founder & Chief Commercial Officer

Chris is a former Australian Army officer who spent more than 18 years in service, including ten as a leader and commander in the special forces; during which time he led Australian soldiers on complex missions all over the world. Chris completed his military and strategic leadership training at the Royal Military College, Duntroon, and has a Civil Engineering degree from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He is currently an ambassador for the Sydney Swans AFL club. Chris is proud to be invested in Sonder’s ambitious vision to build a global responder network to get help by your side, anywhere in the world, within 20 minutes

Peter Burnheim, CSM

Co-founder & Chief Operations Officer

Peter is a former Australian Army officer with nearly two decades of experience successfully leading a variety of complex operations around the world. Peter has a Diploma of Leadership and Management and Officer Training from the Royal Military College, Duntroon, as well as a Bachelor of Arts from UNSW. As a co-founder of Sonder, Peter brings a wealth of experience in solving complex problems in challenging environments. He is passionate about using these skills, and the networks he has developed around Australia in government and the emergency services, to lead Sonder’s network of rapid response professionals providing on-demand, in-person support to people in need.
